Where do you create and manage albums?
Select the Albums item in the left menu:
Create albums
- Select the New button in the Albums section:
- In the album edit page, assign a name to the album. The album's slug is automatically calculated:
- Add photos in two ways:
Tip: Reoder added photos by dragging and dropping them.
Tip: By selecting more added photos, editors can edit in bulk their properties and tags. Also, editors can automatically publish photos after changes.
- By adding photos that already exist in FORGE:
See the article Upload photos for more information on how to create photo entities in FORGE. - By uploading new photo images:
Once uploaded, FORGE automatically creates the related photo entities. See the article Edit and tag photos for more information on how to manage photo entities.
If you set the admin setting below — find it in Administration -> Configurations -> Photo — photo entities that FORGE automatically creates after uploading images can also be published.
- By adding photos that already exist in FORGE:
- Check out what the album looks like it for each translation by selecting the preview button:
After these four steps, the album has a basic setup and editors can publish it. However, there's more to be set before publishing, as the following paragraphs describe:

Set the album's main properties
- If you want to change the Slug that FORGE automatically calculates based on the album's name, you can only do this for albums that have not been published yet.
- Optionally, set the Content Date. If left empty, FORGE automatically fills the Content Date with the first publishing date:
- Optionally, set the album's Short description:
- Optionally, set the album's extended fields (if any). In the example below, the album entity as the Private article extended field:
Manage album translations
Albums have translations with language-independent workflow. Editors can set for which languages the album is visible in. In the example below, the album is visible for all languages but Italian and French:
Editors can also overwrite the album's main properties per translation by selecting the corresponding language. E.g., selecting en-us, the popup editor per the en-us properties displays:
- The left column, not editable, displays the neutral main properties, which are the default values for each translation.
- The left column, editable, displays the translation's main properties, which editors can modify.
Set general settings
- In the center-right of the page, select the General settings icon . The collapsible tab opens:
- Set the authorization group editors must have to edit the album:
- Set whether the album can be listed when the front-end gets entity lists:
Set context and tags
- In the center-right of the page, select the Context and tags icon . The collapsible tab opens:
- Set the album's context:
- Set the album's tags:
Set promotion
- In the center-right of the page, select the Promotion icon . The collapsible tab opens:
- Set whether the album is featured.For more information about featuring entities, see Editorial lists and featured content:
- Select which editorial selections the album is promoted to. For more information about promoting entities, see Editorial lists and featured content:
Manage relations
- In the center-right of the page, select the Relations icon . The collapsible tab opens:
- Select which other entities the album is related to. For more information about related entities, see Related content:
Publish albums
Editors have many options for publishing albums:
- Instantly publish albums by selecting the Publish button:
- Send albums for approval. For more information on the editorial workflow, see Crafting content with FORGE, paragraph Editorial workflow:
Editors in charge of approval can either publish or reject — see the picture below — the album.
In case they decide to reject the album, they can optionally leave a comment:
- Schedule the album's publishing:
Unpublish albums
For each publishing option, editors have the corresponding unpublishing one:
- Instantly publish albums by selecting the Publish button:
- Schedule the album's unpublishing:
