In this article, we cover how to manage navigation rules.
Introduction
Within FORGE, content is arranged into distinct entity types, such as stories or albums. The entity navigation defines which page an entity of a specific type must render through navigation rules.
The next paragraph shows step-by-step how to create and edit navigation rules.
Create and edit rules
- Select the Navigation icon in the left menu.
- The Navigation Rules page displays with:
1. The anchor list of the entity types with at least one navigation rule — find a detailed description of a navigation rule in the The entity navigation article.
2. The expanded list of the entity types and their linked navigation rules.
3. The search button to find navigation rules by page or conditions — find a detailed description of a condition in the The entity navigation article.
- Either select the navigation rule to edit, or select the button to create the new navigation rule.
- On the right-side, the Navigation Rule box displays
- Select which entity the new navigation rule must apply to:
Tip: When accessing the Entity box, you get a list of the entity types that are already linked to a navigation rule.
- Set up the conditions of the navigation rule:
Tip: When accessing the Attribute box, you get a list of attributes that have been previously chosen in a navigation rule.
- Select which page the front-end must render for entities of the selected type (step 5.) and matching selected conditions (step 6.):
The popup page displays that allows selecting either an internal link or an external link:
Select the button to confirm the selected page. - Optionally, add a description:
- In the bottom-right, select either the button to confirm changes or the button to create the new navigation rule.
